Mr Frank Dimaira

June 30, 1959 - July 23, 2019

Frank Charles Dimaira, 60, died Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank NJ after a long illness. Frank was a native of Jersey City. He went to school at Holy Rosary Grammar School, Hudson Catholic High School, and graduated from Seton Hall University with his masters in History, Theology and Secondary Education. He married his college girlfriend, Ann Welch Dimaira, and moved to Red Bank, then Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Frank was very proud of his sister Dr. Michele Dimaira and her husband, Dr.Louis DiPede. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucy Giammarino Dimaira and Peter Dimaira. Anyone who knows Frank probably remembers him with a book in hand. Frank learned many lessons in life: Live in the moment, do the best that you can with what you have, and most valuable is love of family, with unconditional love. Frank and Ann reared 3 beautiful children: Peter Dimaira, Jennifer Dimaira, and Kathleen Dimaira McKeon all with special interest and needs. Frank is also survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Welch and Louise Siwiec Welch, and his younger brother-in-law, Kevin Welch. He was loved and respected by his nieces and nephews: Michele Ambrosio Mullins, Curtis Mullins, Thomas Welch Jr., Elizabeth Welch, Matthew Welch, Liam Welch, Louis DePede, and Rocco DePede. Along the way, their doors were open to many more: Jeremy Adams, Tricia Rowe Santana and newborn Mya, Anthony J. Browne, Lia Christine Gangemi, her son Dillon, and Daniel Brendan McGowan. He protected, lectured, argued for, but demonstrated the true meaning of family. There are many other young people that bounced in and out, and he loved to regal them with stories of Jersey City and "when I was your age", or "back in the day". The kids would bring home new friends when they tired of his stories. Frank taught school for 5 years then took great interest in computers. He attended Chubb Institute, and worked until he had his best and most challenging job at Port Authority of NY and NJ. He was spared in 9/11. He mourned for his colleagues but went to work the following day to get computers up and running so people would be paid. The kids grew up and they gained 2 more sons, Larry, Lawrence Mc Keon and Charlie Faler. These new relationships made Frank a grandpa. He was so proud of all his kids and grandchildren. Frank enjoyed reading, writing poetry, NASCAR, Wrestling, the Civil War and books, books, and more books. He was a coach for Little League, and dabbled in politics with his friend, Joe Hawley. There wasn't anyone he wouldn't help, but he took to troubled kids, and never expected anything in return. His reward was reaped so much later when they stopped to see him or yelled "hey Frankie D", and many knew Frankie D in FULL EFFECT. (lol) He could clear the area in a heartbeat. To all our friends, family, nieces and nephews Frank loved all of you! Remember him fondly and he will always be with us. Services will be at Condons Funeral Home Hwy 36 Leonardo. Sun 2-5, Mon 2-4 &7-9 , Mass on Tuesday at St. Agnes at 10am. Thank you everyone for your prayers and love during this difficult time. Love Ann and family.
