Mrs Helen K Soyka

April 30, 1920 - October 23, 2016

Helen Kosty Soyka, age 96, of Highlands, NJ died at home on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Mrs. Soyka was born in Rahway, NJ where she was raised. She later lived in Colonia and Linden and then settled in Highlands in 1960. Along with her husband Andrew, she was the owner of Johnny and Andy's Bar in Linden and later Andy's Shore Bar in Highlands. Helen was a founding member of the Colonia First Aid. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 143. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a member of their PTA. She was also a member of the Tavern Association. She is survived by her children Andrew J. (Patricia Ann) Soyka, Dennis C. (JoAnn) Soyka, and Mary Ann D. Soyka (Gene Ventimiglia); 5 grandchildren Andrew, Allison, Kristen, Gina, and Anthony; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Pete Kosty and Richard Koszty; and many loving nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Andrew Soyka, parents Charles and Anna Kosty, and 9 other siblings. Family and friends are invited to call at the John P. Condon Funeral Home, 804 Highway 36 Leonardo, NJ on Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at OLPH Church in Highlands on Saturday at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
