John J Finnegan

May 11, 1928 - April 25, 2004

Lt. Col. John J Finnegan, USMC Retired, age 75, of Atlantic Highlands died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at St. Barnabas Hospice Center, Long Branch. Born in Dover, NJ he grew up in Shrewsbury, NJ he then moved to Atlantic Highlands in 1959. He was employed as a Research Scientist by the Research and Development Lab at Fort Monmouth,NJ before retiring in 1988. Where He co authored and presented many research papers and two patents. Mr. Finnegan was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where he was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, Choir and Seniors Club. He was also Past President of Holy Name Society of St. Agnes and of the Monmouth County Federation. He was a member of the American Legion C. Eugene Allen Memorial Post #141. He was a member of the Marine Corps Retired Officers Association. He was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 97. He volunteered for the Barn for the Poorest of the Poor, a Mother Teresa Coworker. He served his country in the Marines for many years. Mr. Finnegan was predeceased by his parents John and the late Jane (Barnes) Finnegan and by his son Richard in 1977. He is survived by Wife of 53 Years: Joan Stockton Finnegan Atlantic Highlands, NJ Daughter and son in law : Jane And Tom Kennedy Keansburg, NJ Daughter: Jean Tureaud Atlantic Highlands, NJ Daughter and Son in law: Kathy and Kevin White Oceanport, NJ Daughter And Son In Law: Nora And Terence Brennan Levittown, PA Daughter And Son In Law: Mary And Richard Young Shrewsbury, NJ Daughter And Son In Law: Susan And Lars Andersson Sweden Daughter: Margaret Finnegan London Son: John H Finnegan Middletown Son And Daughter-in-law: Michael And Lisa Finnegan Millstone, NJ Son And Daughter-in-law: Stephen And Cathy Finnegan Rumson Brother: Richard Finnegan Lake Forest, CA 15 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren Many Nieces And Nephews and Cousins Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at St. Agnes Church, 103 Center Ave, Atlantic Highlands, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The family will receive their friends 2-5 & 7-9 Wednesday at John P. Condon Funeral Home, 804 St. Hwy. #36 P.O. Box 354, Leonardo. In Lieu of Flowers Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Barnabas Hospice, 300 Second Ave CW6 Long Branch NJ 07740.
